A Celebration of Culture, Wellness, and Creativity
St. Mary, Jamaica – On Saturday, May 31, 2025, the lush and historic Castleton Botanical Gardens will come alive with the rhythms of drums, the energy of dance, and the spirit of community at Dance & Percussion In The Park 2025. This family-friendly event invites children, teens, and adults to immerse themselves in a vibrant day of creative expression, cultural celebration, and holistic wellness.
From 9:00
AM to 3:00 PM, participants will enjoy an exciting lineup of activities
including dance workshops, percussion circles (bring your own
instruments), art therapy, movement therapy, and live
performances after lunch.
This year’s
featured facilitators include:
- Abii Paris (Abigail Hewitt) – Jamaican visual artist,
therapeutic art coach, and sustainable designer, known for her expressive,
nature-inspired work and healing art spaces.
- Sharon Bresett – A community dance artist
from Oracabessa, St. Mary, who uses movement to foster creativity,
empowerment, and cultural connection.
- Oneil Green (Moustafa Reds) – Renowned master drummer and
founder of WURI SANKE, with over two decades of experience in West African
drumming and cultural education.
- Yvette Gayle – Dynamic choreographer, stage
manager, and community dance artist dedicated to inclusive, healing
performances rooted in heritage and empowerment.
Also joining the program are Charmaine Gilpin from St. James and Junior McFarlane from Kingston, with sound provided by Diuniversalear (Biko).
Whether
you’re a seasoned artist or simply curious to explore, this event is designed
to uplift and inspire all ages through the power of the performing and visual
arts.
Admission:
- Children (under 12 years): $1,000.00
- Teens / Adults: $1,500.00
Lunch, water, and sodas will be on sale on-site.
Come drum,
dance, paint, and move in one of Jamaica’s most beautiful natural spaces. Let’s
