AIR & PAASA - ECDT FESTIVAL 2012


This year AIR & PAASA Foundation will be hosting Early Childhood Dance Theatre Festival for children, their parents, families and friends at the YMCA Kingston. As part of Child's Month this Dance Festival will focus on children between 3 – 13 years of age. This exciting event is for area dancers and dance studios working with early childhood. This festival brings together young dancers from across Kingston, St. Andrew and St. Thomas regions to share their talents in an exciting day of workshops and performances for parents and children featuring a variety of dance studios and school groups. 


The festival will be held May 27th, 2012; from 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Master classes will be taught by AIR & PAASA dance members.
Companies and associations will have an opportunity to display their goods and services at a small cost from $2,500 - $25,000.00
Between 10 AM – 3 PM a series of WORKSHOPS, EXHIBITIONS AND PERFOMANCES will be offered, activities will include “Parent and Toddler Dance sessions”, “Early childhood dance marathon” and “Exhibitions” of products and services relevant to ECDT Festival participants. This one day festival of dance is aimed at encouraging creative collaborations amongst rural and urban early years dancers from participating schools and youth clubs in St. Andrew, Kingston and St. Thomas. This will be made possible by AIR & PAASA dedicated team and volunteers, with the continued commitment and support of schools, youth groups, partner organizations and the generous support of the YMCA.

With your support, AIR & PAASA Foundation aim is to have a positive impact on the lives of children and youths, affording them an opportunity to share in a day of dance activities. The festival will help to alleviate some of the challenges faced by early childhood dancers and dance practitioners, engaging in an atmosphere of fun learning experiences; generated by collective sharing from groups across three regions. Special attention will be paid to evidence and feedback data gathered from those young people who either participated or supported this initiative. The group whose needs led to the establishment of AIR & PAASA Foundation continue to benefit through this process.

Admission: Adults: $500 / $200 Concession
Demographics: 500 people will attend the event from Kingston, St. Andrew and St. Thomas.
Focus group Children 3 – 13 years old. However teens will also be invited as performers and presenters.

Brief background on rights of AIR & PAASA Foundation

AIR & PAASA Foundation invests in the creation and promotion of new works with children and youths. Through training and performance in various performing arts disciplines; AIR & PAASA provides opportunities for students to engage in dialogue with each other, artistes, staff and audience about their work.

AIR & PAASA maximizes opportunities to engage in research, physical exploration and new movement investigation, while learning about our traditional cultural forms and those of other countries.

AIR & PAASA engages professional artistes in an effort to develop artistic programs with a focus on training for children and youths in rural community.

Take recreational and creative arts activities to areas that lack or have limited resources, infrastructures and or training opportunities to facilitate cultural, artistic programs.

Introduce, enhance and increase the teaching of performing and visual arts programs in rural schools by supporting innovative professional development training programs for teachers and arts workers. We teach arts to children, in particular those with physical, cognitive and emotional challenges. We invest in extensive preparation, coaching and presentations.

AIR & PAASA aims to produce programs that reach children in ways no other application can. Provide schools with critical programs that are limited in addition to bridging economic gaps for individual advancement and community growth.

Evaluation
To ensure that this program is executed efficiently this time and in the future, the project will be evaluated using the following format:
  1. Summary of the activities (one-page, concise overview of the findings and recommendations)
  2. List of data collection will be implemented to capture feedback from participants and stakeholders to aid in evaluating project implementation and outcome as well as decision making for an annual event of ECDT Festival.
  3. List of products and services offered at the event; their impact and usefulness to the future of this event.
  4. Having identified that a dance program was not offered at the YMCA, AIR & PAASA Foundation partnered with the YMCA to further develop dance with a focus on early childhood 3 – 13 years. We will identify the impact of this program being introduce at the YMCA for early childhood dance and performing arts.
  5. Check list of overall goals and whether they have been achieved.
  6. Outcome and performance measures will be apart of our assessment tool for this festival. Some of this data will be collected by written, oral and audiovisual documentation.
  7. Health and safety check list will be implemented.
  8. Five volunteers and staff and thirteen resource personnel’s will be involved in rolling out this program.
  9. Data collected will be presented in the form of a report for all stakeholders and some data will be posted on the internet including youtube, facebook and AIR & PAASA Blog.
  10. Feedback from sponsors, school groups and stakeholders will be collated and summarized in a concise report.
