Dance In The Park 2026 Celebrates 16 Years of Rural Community Dance Development

The organizers of Dance In The Park (DITP) 2026 are proud to announce the staging of the 16th anniversary of this outstanding rural community dance development initiative on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at the beautiful Castleton Botanical Gardens, Junction Road, St. Mary.

St. Alban's Basic School
For sixteen consecutive years, Dance In The Park has provided a vibrant platform for children, teens, adults, educators, families, and community members to engage in dance, wellness, creative arts, and cultural expression within a safe and enriching environment. Schools, community groups, and families from across Jamaica have participated in the initiative over the years, helping to strengthen its impact on rural community development through the arts. Coordinated by Kofi Walker, the programme continues to promote artistic development, healthy lifestyles, and community engagement through movement and creativity. This year’s event will feature dynamic presentations in dance, percussion, art therapy, and wellness activities led by an experienced and passionate team of facilitators. Dance presenters include Sharon Bressett, Isiah Simms, Omario Muschett and Kofi Walker, whose combined experience exceeds 80 years as performing artists, teachers, and choreographers. Participants can expect engaging dance workshops and cultural experiences suitable for all ages and skill levels.

The percussion and sound experience will be supported by Andrew Webb, musician, early childhood practitioner, and cricket enthusiast, alongside H-BLOCK SOUND under the leadership of Gregory Smith, providing professional amplification and musical support throughout the day’s activities.

Abii Paris
Dance In The Park 2026 will also continue its emphasis on wellness and healing arts through special presentations in Art Therapy and Sports Massage Therapy. Returning for their second consecutive year of support are Abii Paris and KarleneBell, whose contributions have enhanced the programme’s focus on creativity, wellness, and emotional healing. Abii Paris, born Abigail Hewitt, will facilitate therapeutic art sessions designed to encourage self-expression and creativity through visual arts, while Belle Sante Massage will once again provide revitalizing chair massages for teachers, parents, park visitors, and families attending the event.

The organizers also extend sincere appreciation to sponsors and supporters, including Tapioca Village Retreat, a scenic eco-retreat known for its authentic Jamaican countryside experience, Mushroom Swimwear, as well as the many family members and friends whose continued encouragement and generosity help sustain the annual initiative.

Dance In The Park 2026 welcomes schools, youth groups, families, educators, dancers, and members of the public to participate in this memorable celebration of culture, wellness, and community spirit.
