Dance in the Park Day 2

Today I had the blessing of working with my twin dancers from BOTV (Branches Of The Vine Kindergarten)! The Rhoden family came out in support of both Aunty Carol & Unlce Kofi. We were elated by their attendance and celebrated the opportunity to work with the twins again after 11 months! Thank you Rhodens, Gordon & Babolal for your encouragement and support! I hope to see you all next Saturday.

We had an opportunity to work with Mr. Clayton Gidden today, a two time "Actor Boy" recipient. The Rhoden twins enjoyed his lesson and so did the parents and myself who could not help but participate. Images and videos of the day will follow this post.

Though the attendance for the youth class remained at two each Saturday for the last two sessions, there’s been interest in the continuation of the activity. Random persons have approached us and asked about the activity and expressed an interest in registering their children in the program. Today this also includes a member of staff who would like to sign up her two children in the program.

The day started with percussion activity for warm up, after this, the twins went through a formal training session with Mr. Gidden, costume designer and assistant choreographer to Mrs. P. Shaw of Father Holong & Friends annual productions. He was gracious, calm and giving. Myself and all involved were blessed to be in his presence and we hope to have more of his energy in this project.

I had a moment too to reconnect with the girls through movement and shared what I did the week before with the Babolal sisters. During the 45 minutes session we shared, I felt energized by the familiar smile, the memorable expressions of happiness that included giggles and laughs. This moment of joy and reconnection was mutually cathartic and healing! This is a family that both Aunty Carol and I have not seen since March 12, 2019! The entire family was involved in the activities today. Another successful day, and both Carol and I were grateful to be given a chance to interact with the girls again.

Well for those of you who have not had the chance to join us in the park, please do. We have evolved the activities to suite your requests. The program will include the following:

10:00 – 12:00      Dance & Modeling           (4 -12 years)

12:00 – 1:00        Dance & Percussion        (Adults & Teens)
