After three (3) weeks hiatus due to restriction of movements mandated by our government, I am eager to get back into the park and dance and I am sure many of you are as well.
We must acknowledge that during this time Jamaica has lost 2 pioneers of Modern Dance in Jamaica and its diaspora. They were both my teachers and friends Patrick Johnson and Bert Rose. They have paved many pathways for men in dance in Jamaica. May their souls rest in peace.
On brighter notes; we hope to celebrate Child’s Month at the Park on May 29, 2021 with performances of the routines developed in the park as well as supporting acts. We invite submissions for performance pieces to be added to the program, this may include any performing art forms, suitable for family entertainment. You may enter creations of your own that include:
1. Dance
2. Music : Instrument / Vocal
3. Gymnastics
4. Speech & Drama: Poetry / Monologue / Comedy
5. Mime / Clowns
6. Make-up artistry
Deadline for entry of performance items is May 8, 2021. Items must be limited to solos, duets, trios or quartets. Each item should be limited to a maximum of four (4) minutes.
Entry fee per performing artists $500.00 (This is towards the use of the venue and production team).
“Dance In The Park” is held at Devon House Saturdays 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Fees:
- Children: $4,000.00 Monthly / $1,500.00 per day (Inc. Patty or Ice-cream)
- Adults: $3,500.00 Per Month /$1,000.00 per day
Your Orders:
- T-Shirts: $2,000.00 child / $2,500.00 Adults
- Dance Gear: $5,000.00 (Girls: Leotard, Tights and Skirt / Boys: Jazz Pants and T-shirt).
